At the Long Island Bariatric Center, it’s all about you and the way you live. The Center offers a unique and comprehensive approach to weight loss. We understand that you have unique needs. With that in mind, our staff of experts will work closely with you to help you choose an appropriate treatment plan; a plan you can stay with and succeed with.
Our staff of experts provides individualized care with a range of treatment options that include medically supervised weight loss, pharmacotherapy with FDA-approved medications, and structured meal plans utilizing commercially-available meal replacements. All treatment modalities are supported by an individualized program of behavior modification, designed to get the weight off and keep it off for life. For those patients who have not responded to medical treatment, Dr. Ferraro partners with surgeons in the area to provide expert surgical care.
Dory Ferraro, DNP, ANP-BC, CBN
Dr. Dory Ferraro, the Center's Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner, has specialized in medical and surgical weight management for the past two decades. She has worked both in the hospital and outpatient setting with thousands of patients, partnering with them to ensure they have a positive experience and achieve their goals for a healthier weight and lifestyle.
Surgeons, hospitals and industry worldwide consult with Dr. Ferraro. She has been instrumental in the planning and development of bariatric surgery programs throughout the tri-state area. She began her career in bariatric surgery as a research coordinator for the LAP-BAND® FDA clinical trial in 1999, and since that time has been recognized nationally as a leader in the field of bariatric surgery. She has held positions as Clinical Director of Bariatric Surgery at both Stamford Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center at Lawrence Hospital. She earned her doctorate in Nursing at Columbia University and has since joined the faculty as Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing.

New patients are always welcome. Our staff will be pleased to assist you in any way possible and all efforts will be made to accommodate your schedule. Everyone at our office is at your service.
We do not accept insurance. The office fee is payable at the time of visit by cash, check or major credit cards. If you have out-of-network benefits, we will be happy to provide you with an itemized bill. Depending on the plan that you have, you might get reimbursed in part or in full for services rendered in our offices.
If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you kindly provide us with at least 24 hours notice. This courtesy on your part will make it possible to give your appointment to another patient.
