Dr. Dory's 10 Day Detox Diet

 

This diet has been adapted from Dr. Mark Hyman's 10-day detox diet with a few revisions to make it more palatable and easier to follow. This diet is designed to help you lose weight and feel better by eliminating foods that "weigh you down", keep you feeling sluggish, and can actually have harmful effects, such as inflammation and erratic blood sugar levels.

Have one delicious smoothie every day. Enjoy it for breakfast or have it for a morning or afternoon snack. It is rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, calcium, vitamins and minerals. You can choose from chocolate almond or berry smoothies.

Non-starchy Veggies
 

Fresh vegetables are unlimited throughout the day. Include at least 1-2 servings with every meal and have them for snacks too! Avoid starchy vegetables such as potatoes, peas, corn, yams, carrots, parsnips and beets.

Protein

Proteins are the builing blocks of our body and an essential part of our daily diets. Proteins digest slowly, keep your blood sugar at an even keel and keep you feeling full longer that carbohydrates.

Fruit

Fruits are an important source of fiber, vitamins and minerals and should be part of your daily diet. The downside if fruits are high in sugars and can pile on the caloried if eaten in large servings or throughout the day. Fruits allowed on the detox diet are apples and berries.  You'll also be having a half banana daily in your smoothie.
